FAQ about Saint Patrick School tuition/fee structure |
What is a participating parish family?
A participation parish family is one who is registered as a Saint Patrick Parishioner, attends church on a regular basis, registers their attendance through the use of their weekly envelope, has a current pledge card on file, and has pledged to give of their time, talent and treasure to the parish. To qualify for this fee rather than paying tuition, you must meet all of these requirements for one year before your child attends school.

What if we just registered as a parishioner?
Your tuition/fees will be prorated to reflect when your one year is completed. For example, if you just registered as a parishioner in January, you would pay the deanery Catholic rate for half year and the Participating Parish rate for the second half of the year. This is usually calculated by the office and divided evenly over the ten (10) months, so that you will pay the same amount for the entire year.

What if I have been registered member of the parish for years, but have been inactive?
You would need to become an active parishioner to qualify for the discount. All you have to do is register your attendance at Mass on a weekly basis for one year, using your envelopes. If you do not have envelopes, you should call the rectory. They can provide these for you.

How is this status monitored?
Your status as a participating parish family is monitored through your weekly contribution envelope. This is the only way that your attendance is registered. The school verifies your status upon registration each year. The school and parish office monitor all school families and give a list to Father Rick of families whose status is in jeopardy. Father Rick will either contact families through a letter or personal meeting to discuss the situation.

Who is considered a deanery family?
A deanery family is a family that is a registered and participating member of another Catholic Church within the Terre Haute Deanery.

What is the actual cost to educate a child at Saint Patrick School?
The actual cost in 2007-2008 was $4393. We ask our non-Catholic families to pay the actual cost. Our deanery families pay a reduced tuition due to their support of their local Catholic Church. Our Saint Patrick parishioners are asked to contribute to our stewardship program through the use of their weekly contribution envelopes. Parish families with one child are only paying 22% of the actual cost to educate a child at Saint Patrick School through their fee. The Church contributes over $400,000 yearly to the school budget. It is vital to the financial stability of the school that all Saint Patrick Parishioners who send their children to Saint Patrick School contribute to the best of their ability to the Sunday and Holy day collections.

Is financial aid available?
Financial assistance is offered for Participating Parish families only. A form is available in the main office and verification of income is required along with the financial assistance form.
